About Me

Hi, I’m Nom and I make wooden sculptures with a chainsaw! I started chainsaw carving in 2025 though my journey into it wasn’t exactly typical. I come from a background of science and healthcare. I spent nine years working in the NHS, however, like so many in healthcare, I eventually found myself burned out and searching for the joy I once had in my work.

During a difficult period and questioning whether my life was heading in the right direction, I was out walking my dog and noticed a log by the side of the path. I felt an overwhelming urge to carve it. I’m not sure where the thought came from, and as cheesy as it sounds, it honestly felt like the log spoke to me that day. I remembered I had an old chainsaw I’d been given years before but never used. With the help of my (slightly reluctant but very supportive) wife, we hauled the log back home. After studying a few YouTube videos on chainsaw carving and a lot of excitement, I made my first carving: a mushroom. The next day, I made an owl. And just like that, I was hooked.

I had dabbled in whittling in the past, and knew I had an eye for creating in 3D. However this felt different, the feeling was euphoric, I had finally discovered something I was truly passionate about. My third carving was a squirrel holding a pride flag, and it was then I knew this wasn’t just a hobby, it was the start of a new chapter. I finally found something I wake up excited to do each day.

I’m still early in my carving journey. If you enjoy my work, like what I create, and would like to purchase a carving or discuss a custom piece, please get in touch.
